Maintenance Alliance project

The Maintenance Alliance project is a delivery method for the renewal and operational maintenance requirements within the western third of the council’s transport network. This could include filling a pothole in the footpath of a local road to the full replacement of the infrastructure of a major arterial road, i.e. boundary-to-boundary replacement of Queen Street off Nelson Street.

The alliance’s scope is all encompassing and includes the three-year brief and relating budgets from which the alliance can scope, prioritise, design and physically deliver the works. Some of the challenges in this area include the opening of State Highway 20; the general operation of the CBD area; enabling works with respect to the Rugby World Cup 2011; and coordination of all parties to work on the corridor while still maintaining the flow of traffic. This network is the most intensive in New Zealand.

As the scope encompasses a client, contractor and consultant interface, a graduate can gain a variety of industry experience. This opportunity is unique to Auckland City Council.
