On The Job Training – Rotational Placements
During each rotational placement you will benefit from on-the-job coaching from experts within your field. Following entry onto the programme, you will move through a number of rotational placements across council groups relevant to your chosen profession.
Each placement will support you in the development of a broad range of competencies, skills and experience necessary for you to become a successful professional and support you in achieving recognised qualifications with relevant professional institutes.
Core Skill Training
To compliment on-the-job training, core skill training will be provided from our suite of graduate courses. This will assist in equipping you with the skills required to increase your effectiveness as a professional.
Courses will centre on the core skills and competencies to support career development. Courses will be offered internally and externally as appropriate and are additional to the standard courses that new employees within Auckland City Council must attend.
Mentoring
The mentoring role is an integral part of Auckland City Council's Graduate programme. On entry into the programme you will be supported by your line manager this person will be your mentor. Your mentor will be there to offer support and guidance to assist you with professional development and in achieving your professional qualifications.
Graduate Network Opportunities
You will have opportunities to meet and share tips and experiences with other Auckland City Council graduates. Our monthly graduate network meetings will be predominantly informal. The open forum will promote a sharing of experiences relating to the graduate programme and an opportunity to offer support and advice to each other.
As an employee of Auckland City Council, you will also benefit from ongoing learning and development.
Rewards and benefits
You will start on a competitive, market-driven salary which is reviewed every six months to recognise your developing skills and contribution.
Remuneration will be reviewed as a result of each six monthly performance development review. Individual increases will be based on performance relating to goals and objectives, and on demonstration of the required competency standards.
We want to ensure that we attract and retain the right people by offering a competitive "total reward" package. As an employee of Auckland City Council you will also be eligible for further rewards and benefits.
